Summer Camp Island Wiki

Oscar Peltzer is one of the two main protagonists of Summer Camp Island, along with his best friend Hedgehog. Oscar was voiced by Justin Felbinger in the pilot and is voiced by 3 actors in the series (first Elliott Smith, second Asher Bishop, then by Antonio Raul Corbo).

Appearance

Oscar is a young elephant, around the same height as Hedgehog. He has a small trunk and rosy cheeks. He wears a navy long-sleeved sweater over a white shirt, with light blue jeans, long socks, and maroon shoes.

Personality

Oscar is a character on Summer Camp Island, known for his gentle and kind-hearted nature. However, he's not particularly creative or confident, which makes him heavily reliant on his friend Hedgehog. Many conflicts in the series are either initiated or exacerbated by Oscar, as he lacks assertiveness and often finds himself in awkward situations. While he might not be absent-minded in the conventional sense, he tends to be forgettable and lacks strong social skills. As Oscar himself once admitted, "I do better in small groups of two or less" (as mentioned in episode one).

Despite his shortcomings, Oscar always has the best interests of those around him at heart. Even when his actions may seem irrational, his intentions are always sincere. He is, in essence, a naive kid who genuinely cares about his friends and the well-being of the camp.[3]

Biography

Oscar is the son of Sue and Andy. He is introverted and nervous to meet strangers. He likes pancakes, and he is lactose intolerant. He has impressively thick skin, as when others insult his capabilities, he rarely reacts, ignoring them unless pushed over the edge.

Later, he is revealed by Dr. P. Shark to be a magical glowworm, a creature that generates, and imbues others with magic.

Oscar and Hedgehog

Hedgehog is Oscar's best friend. The two are practically inseparable, and have know each other since they were babies. Oscar recognizes Hedgehog's potential and genius intellect long before even she does, and despite how far she has come on the island, becoming a witch and a werewolf, he shows no ill will towards her, only becoming concerned with how little he changes, even going so far to say that how special she is is just a reason he loves her.

The two share a relationship that is as close as it can be without being romantic.

Oscar isn't above teasing her, and if he manages a win, he will make it for all its worth. The two fight, but always manage to make up.

Susie

At the beginning of the series, Oscar and Susie were at odds with one another due to the bossy, short-tempered Susie often tormenting Oscar and the other campers. However, over time they develop a close friendship, with Susie softening as she becomes more open to the campers and accepts her responsibility as a mentor.

In the Season 6 episode Swellington Boots, Oscar was one of the people helping Susie remove her tight boots. He was the one to whom Susie vented her past regrets. In Weather Your Weather, Oscar acts as Susie's "bellhop", providing her with therapy and helping her carry her emotional baggage without fear of judgement. In It Takes Time, Oscar and Susie, along with Hedgehog and Mildred, bring magic back to the world with a peanut butter and honey sandwich.
